She’s not a person to sit around the house. Settling into a life in the US, pregnant and all, she marched over to the local school and asked to volunteer. It didn’t take long for the staff to see her value. When a job came up, they got her employed in the district. The pay wasn’t great and the responsibilities were less than she had in Lima, but all she wanted was an opportunity.
