"My determination, combined with a relative lack of patience, was getting in the way. Grit, one of my personality traits defined as “perseverance and passion for long-term goals,” which predicts success in professional life, was not bringing me such exceptional results in the love department. Unlike when writing a grant proposal, I cannot provide substantial arguments for him to like me enough. It seems impossible to convincingly address the impact of our meeting on our future well-being. It is worthless to write a narrative to make him feel what I feel…"

It is frustrating when we allow our background noise and professional ethics to stand between us and our destination.

Whenever our parent's issues and shortcomings in our upbringing come in between us and blissful relationships we have background noise issues.

Also, when professional ethics of seeking evidence, validation, and proof come between us and our hearts matters we are frustrated and at best indecisive.

These are things that we contend with in life, especially when we consider ourselves too old or wiser to make or repeat a mistake we would have made when we were younger.
