Roshan Joy, thanks so much for the searchlight on the Medium Partner Program(MPP) and its language of exclusion in the 21st Century.
My country, Nigeria 🇳🇬 is yet to be covered by MPP and it is disheartening.
When I was on the first one-month trial, after my first five posts, I was written and informed that I would not be paid unless I am a member of MPP and the conditions attached were met.
After the first month of the trial was over, I was admitted as a member, and with the zeal with which I started I pushed to have 100 followers. Ten days after I was able to achieve that feat. However, all that promising hope and zeal were dashed when I got to apply for MPP and found out that Nigeria 🇳🇬 was not covered by MPP.
I would have been there and then stopped my association with medium.com but I couldn't because of my other areas of interest as an author to be.
Therefore, Roshan Joy, your write-up resonates with me, and I stand with you to call for the expansion of MPP coverage to countries like Nigeria 🇳🇬 (my country), India 🇮🇳, Brazil 🇧🇷 and so on.
I believe that through MPP expansion coverage medium.com would help to integrate people of varied cultures and backgrounds for a better world.
To begin with, writers who are not in the countries presently covered by MPP should be encouraged and motivated to have their earnings accumulated until their countries have been worked on and are integrated into MPP coverage by the MPP team.
.
I hope to emphasize more on this when I would be celebrating the first one thousand followers on medium.com which is on the horizon.
